You have some very good points- on the Connellsville View Board - one poor mother having problems in the Dunbar Twp School - someone emailed her back and stated to be careful of what is being posted - that the email addresses were given to the police before when people were treading on thin water. Why have this site - no one is making up stories these are actual experiences that are happening daily in our school systems around the country - many of them - the children are even too afraid to go home and tell their parents. Please - if there is anyone out there with any helpful suggestions to try to get this resolved-

I think that parents should start calling people-Maybe start with the state - maybe even calling our State Representative - I have never seen a particular school in the Connellsville District that have received some many terrible comments and nothing is being done. It is like this school is untouchable - they have their own guidelines that they run on - All kids are entitled to be treated fair - go over there and wait for your kids to get on the bus -----the teachers are flying out of there faster than pulling out at Anchor(ooops - no more Anchor) -who is ensuring that our children are getting on the correct bus and safely - don't even ask me about the support staff - aids, etc. Cafeteria quite time - get real - the one aide used to have her male friends supposedly stop up while the kids were outside and she was getting sun on the picnic table.

I attended Dunbar Boro as a child, and I can tell you that these problems have always existed, I just think people are now becoming more aware of their children's education. When in kindergarten, my teacher gave us "frown faces" for coloring outside the lines. What 5 or 6 year old can perfectly color within the lines. How about not inhibiting a child's creativity by making them color pre-drawn pictures? Let them create their own drawings. I also know of this same teacher pulling a child by the hair. Also, the old librarian(1988 or so) would not let me go to the bathroom, and I remember wetting myself in front of all my classmates becasue of this. Connellsville Area School Board should investigate some of their staff. Unique IP Code: c4d26b9d23b86cd

On a more serious note... I see so many churches right in the heart of Dunbar and can't help but wonder how they're surviving. The population has widdled down and yet four or five churches are right in the downtown area itself all with signs naming their reverend or pastor, but do they really have much of a fellowship left? Without being a church goer myself I can only wonder. Maybe people coming in from the surrounding areas boost their numbers?

Dunbar is more than just a place, it is a way of life. How are all of those Dunbar people surviving without Pechin close by?

Is the principal assisting in resolving the problem ? I hope so, but if not, start climbing the rungs of the ladder until you get the help you need. I don't know what type of problem you are having but be sure to keep an open mind and if you still feel there is a problem - don't stop until you get an answer that satisfies you or is fair to all involved.

I have a problem with a Teacher in the Dunbar Twp school, and the Principle knows of this problem. Many other parents have the same complaint. Can you let me know if this is the school you are writing about?

thats the kind of treatment I would expect, and got, from school teachers 20 years ago. I wouldn't waste anytime, I'd contact the principle and the school board right away. Don't let these kids suffer through this any longer. They could be traumized and their grades suffer.

There have been many hanges this year in the school district. Many good, some questionable. I am very angry with some of the teachers and aides at one of the local schools and I have been biting my tongue. I have witnessed some of the children being jerked by the arm, yelled at and having an aide advance toward them yelling, verbally abusing and pointing and shaking a finger at the child upon approach. If some of these people can't handle the stress of a few lively young kindergarten and first graders - give the job to someone who can. Today one adult yelled hurry, and when the child did another yelled, don't run. We do not send our children to school to be yelled at and abused and if it doesn't soon stop, I will be calling the school board and the news. Some of the teachers are excellent, very patient and are not a problem but for the few that are not - they better wake up and smell the coffee. Physical, mental and verbal abuse is a BIG PROBLEM for me an many others. I hope someone in authority can resolve the issues. My reason for writing is so many will see what may not be getting to those that should hear it. A problem cannot successfully be resolved if it isn't " out there" for discussion.
