Your state representative, Tim Mahoney said he owned 24 bars in 25 years and he campaigned on his family values. If a State Representative bar owner believes that a bar owner represents family values and a large majority of voters seem to think he is great, who are you to complain about alchohol being served there?

I know our area is populated with bars and taverns and this might not seem to be a big deal, but this year the Fayette County Fair has decided to sell alcohol at the arena during the fair. I am concerned as this is a family style event with 4h children participating at the fair. Also traffic can get quite hectic and with some drinking alcohol and leaving could make for trouble for people just passing by the fair. I Know those who wish to drink will still do so but maybe not so concentrated in a place where kids are to enjoy time with their family and where the traffic is not so hectic. If this is something you are concerned about lets speak up! Contact fair board members etc... It could be our own family or friends that end up paying the price for this decision. My understanding is there are board members who dont agree as well. This decision was made as they need money, my question is at what cost to the community?

I was wanting to find out the building permit laws for the city of Uniontown. I was considering putting up a fence around part of my yard to keep the stray animals from doing their business in my yard. Sincerely, Holly C.

. . .they shouldn't have to keep paying taxes on their property, anyhow! None of us should! Go figure - if by age 50 your spouse has aready died, you can receive what is called a tax rebate, or, rent rebate - however, if your spouse is still alive, too bad, too sad - no property or rent rebate for you UNLESS you're receiving SSI or SSD! If you make it to age - what is it - 62 or 65, whatever, I know it's in your 60's - you can qualify for a tax rebate or rent rebate! Just curious when, and, most importantly - WHY - did people ever permit government to tax their real estate over and over and over again, year after year after year. Cute part is - Rendell runs around the state with photographers in tow, to get his picture published with the people who now qualify for tax or rent rebates based on higher income limit inclusions.

I would suggest that you talk with an attorney. What little I know about Pennsylvania law says that the fault is always on the person following. Even if you were stopped on the road, then that person hit a Parked Car! This certainly couldn't be any different than if you were stopped to make a left turn onto a side road or into a driveway. In any case, I hope that you got the names and contact info of the witnesses. Good Luck!

Imagine driving down on Route 51 in Perry Township in a small sedan when a pickup truck speeding and likely out of control rear ends you with such a force you had to be cut out of your vehicle and only survived because of some spare tires in the back seat.
Now imagine this incident as a 73 year old man. Finally after they cut you out of the vehicle and your heart is already pounding from the accident, when a Perry Township officer arrives and makes an assessment at the scene. On hand were multiple witnesses to the accident that reported that the pickup truck was speeding easily probably 50 or 60 miles, but the police officer didn't even take their testimony. He instead accuses the victim who was rear ended as being stopped in the highway, and awards part of the guilt for the accident to victim of being rear ended by a young out of control driver! Despite eye witnesses pleading that it DID NOT happen that way. It is later learned that the officer may have known the operator of the pickup truck and was doing him a favor by reducing the potential trouble. This or a dislike for the victim's family members may be a reason, but this is only a theory at this point. This event occurred two weeks ago and STILL the victim who has lost his transportation, and has a disabled wife, has not received an accident report from the officer. The victim has discussed the matter with the chief of Perry Township police who claims he can’t intervene. When I learn all of the facts and names of the Perry Township officer and obtain the unbelievable pictures of the crash, these will be put into a Web site online. If this malfeasance occurred once from Perry Township police officers, you can believe they've done it before. As a side project I'll obtain other stories about their misbehavior and we can take this and other incidents to the next level. If Perry Township can't field police officers who act in a professional manner, perhaps the township should dissolve the police force and use the state police in Uniontown or Belle Vernon.

I am also totally disgusted with a creek that runs right through the center of my yard. Its quickly eating away at the bank and now its only 20 feet from the house. Also, where it goes under the road, its eating that away. My driveway is only 10 feet from the creek. Ferguson Road, Dunbar, Pa.

I wanted to voice my complaint of lack of help from our township supervisors. I have complained about the situation in Georges township for 25 years regarding erosion of a natural sewage creek along my property line witin 25 feet of my house. Every year I lose ground due to erosion not to mention the foul smell because of raw sewage that runs though this ditch. I have complained to our township supervisors about this for 25 years and they keep promising that they are going to do something about this, but I am still waiting and losing prescious ground fast. Also, I have a neighbor with junk vehicles an trash in their yard. They have raw sewage coming from their yard. I have made numerous calls to Jim Palmer, our zoning officer to no advail. We have litterally seen rats and snakes from all the trash in their yard. They have been burning building material and trash in their yard. Nothing can be done when you have a zoning officer that only works 2 days a week. When you call his home, you get an answer machine and he very seldom returns our calls. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can resolve these problems? You can reach me at 123 Bottom St., Uniontown, PA 15401 or call me at 724-439-2646 Ask for Roger or Gloria

The Procedure for collecting delinquent Taxes in Fayette County. Real estate tax notices are mailed out by each municipal tax collector. If the taxes are not paid by December 31st(of the year the taxes became due and payable), each tax collector returns all unpaid taxes to the Tax Claim Bureau for collection. The Bureau mails out a NOTICE OF RETURN & CLAIM to notify each property owner with delinquent taxes due. The tax claim becomes ABSOLUTE if it is not paid by December 31 of the year it was returned to the Tax Claim Bureau. In May of June (of the 2nd year after the original bill was issued by the local tax collector), the property owner will receiive notice that the property will be advertised, posted and sold with the sale to be xcheduled on or after the 2nd Monday of Seoptember, but before October 1, If the tax due is not paid by July 1, the property is advertised for sale and posted by the County Sheriff. The Upset Sale(sale of the property) is held in Sepptember of the 2nd year following the initial billing from the tax collector. If the properties are not sold at the Upset Sale, the property is ten listed to be sold at a Judicial Sale. The last opportuity for the taxpayer to pay the taxes due anaa avoic sale would be prior to the Upset sale. To start the discussion on this subject I would like to say that the Politicians do not have a say on this. The case on Divito Park, they do pay there taxes but they are late and delinquent. Divito Park does not avoid the Sheriff sale because who would want to buy the property for the taxes and be subjected to outstanding liens and mortgaes. Divito Park with 34+ acres is assesed for $1,207,360.00 has to pay the County over $17,000 a year, and to avoid UPSET SALE must not owe $34,000.00 in back taxes. The Upset sale is held in Sept of the 2nd year. The Upset sale is sold for unpaid taxes and free from liens and etc. What Divito Park does prior to the UPset Sale is pay the taxes that is delilnquent from the first year. This removes the property from the Upset Sale but then they do not pay thier taxes for the coming year. They avoid the Upset sale by being delinquent for no more than two years. The lien holders and Banks that have interest on the property watch this like a hawk. What is wrong here is the law and it should be changed so property owners who avoid paying their dues. are penalized. They should be prevented from operating a losing or failing business for over 5 yers while be delinquent in taxes. Did you knw that in the State of PA you will lose you Liquor license if you are delinquent on your State and County/School tax. You will be shut down ASAP

Now go buy your own bandwidth for your advertising or put that advertisement in the classified section. I have a web cafe, too, it's called my kitchen. The coffee is cheaper and better and the baked goods are better and fresher.

well I found the most amazing place in all of fayette county if i may say so myself.Aside from making better coffe than ANY other place in town (including our new starbucks)they also sell delicious baked goods. Then on top of all that theres free wifi throughout the entire cafe so that way you can use you laptops while enjoying your amazing beverage. They also repair and sell computers, and if you're just interested in using a computer they have web stations there that you can pay to use for like $5 an hour. From which you can acess the internet, play a few games, or even just type something out.Everything has great prices and you dont lose quality or service because of it.

There used to be a pool in Pennsville, across from the Greenridge Memorial Park. There is a building there now and the pool was behind it. My mother used to take me there to swim in the early 60s. It was Sullivan's I think. Could this be where the Pennsville Park and Pool was?
