Marlin Sprouts is a responsible person who can be entrusted to access city financial information but he wasn't capable of understanding that what he and his daughter did was illegal?

Marlin Sprouts, not Ed Fike, is the person who told the media about the money having already been spent by the previous administration.

If that were the case, that Mayor Fike has no control over Sprouts NOT stepping down from his elected City Council post after his confession to his FEDERAL CRIME, then all Mayor Fike has to do is come out with this problem in the press, which he has not done.(Is he is protecting Sprouts for some reason? ). I don't care who thinks Sprouts is a "nice" guy. 'Nice' is different than 'Good'. Look, the guy is NOT a good and honorable man no matter who "likes" him. In fact, I guestion all the the people ( ED FIKE ) who think he's a nice guy!!! Is this crooks sticking together? It looks really bad for Mayor Fike that he has NOT dealt with this problem in an open and forthright way in front of the people of Uniontown.

And everyone will see Fike was right about the money being spent from the old administration.

You have not a clue what you are talking about,Fike is doing what is the next step,If Marlin wont step down Fike can not make him,Nancy Vernon has to do that,Fike ask Sprouts to do the right thing ,And he won't so Nancy Vernon will do what has to be done.Believe it or not it is not up to the mayor. The mayor likes Marlin but he agrees with everyone else that Marlin needs to man up,Like he said he would do.

Mystery Man
Remember when he said the city was broke because the previous admin had spent most or all of a certain pool of funds? After hearing about the scam he helped pull off, I thought he may not have been telling the truth about all that money being spent and no records to show where it went. Also, really odd how the Herald Standard reported that Fike told them about a person named 'Bob', whose last name Fike didn't know, even though NUMEROUS people had mentioned this 'Bob' to him. I can understand Fike not asking the last name of 'Bob', if 'Bob' was only mentioned once or twice, by one or two people, but NUMEROUS people mentioned 'Bob' so it's really a stretch of the imagination to think that Ed Fike wasn't told the last name of 'Bob'. Question is: WHY DIDN'T ED FIKE REVEAL BOB'S LAST NAME?

Actually . . .
. . . I wish Rhodes had won the election. Never realized until AFTER the election that Rhodes had an entire website devoted to detailing, for us, what his agenda would include.

Looks to me like Mayor Ed Fike...is looking for a way to keep Felon Sprouts on the City Council, otherwise there is no reason to take this issue to our District Attorney. If that happens the Uniontowners ought to boot them both out of office and out of town. Sprouts admitted his guilt, he expected to get $150,000. out of the deal. He KNEW what he was doing...he wasn't duped. In addition to being a crook...he's a whiner. Mayor ED FIKE, what the heck are you doing...nothing like having a criminal at your side. I guess you need a patsy...a kiss ---. Really, I am outraged. Shame on you Mayor Fike. Take care of this problem named Sprouts.

Pathetic how he tried to pin the blame for what HE did on his 28 year old daughter . . . Normally, parents lead their children, in Sprouts case, according to Marlin himself, his daughter led him to commit criminal acts . . . Yeah, right [sarcasm]. I thought he was already out of office, too. If he isn't, surely he isn't permitted access to city finances, so, what's he doing there?

He's black. There are special rules for black politicians. It goes so much further than basic affirmative action.

I am astounded that Mr. Sprouts is not out of the picture...He is a liability in every way...shape...and form. He is a criminal. He knew what he was doing when he did it...that is not a victim. What's wrong with this picture. Why do we have to go to Nancy Vernon to figure out what to do with Mr. Sprouts. Its over...he should be gone. The Mayor should have booted him already.

He plead guilty which is the same as being convicted, so he is a felon which is illegal to hold office.

I guess not until he is sentenced,Is he a criminal. After that the city will have to make him step down,I thought he was going to man up

I thought councilman sprouts resigned. How can someone who pleads guilty to a felony still be a councilman? State law says anyone who commits an "infamous" crime can not hold public office. Why are you still in office. Is it because you are the only and first black councilman, so you get treated differently? criminals should not hold office, so on your way out, please ask mahoney, kula, clinton, deweese, rendell, stairs and the others to resign also.

i apologize if indeed your street is being missed weekly. please let me know which street this is and i will address this situation immediately. our problem is not enough drivers and the trucks are constantely breaking down. i have two trucks out of service presently. there are also 3 employees off on comp, but these are still not adequate excuses for your trash not being picked up. feel free to leave me a message at city hall if the sanitation workers miss your street.

Interesting, isn't it, how the grandest and most expensive office complex in Uniontown, the Community Action Agency, designed to provide nice office space for services to the financially poor, is adjacent to the Walnut St. real-estate development undertaken with tax dollars by the Uniontown redevelopment Authority. Imagine that - the grandest and most expensive office complex in Uniontown surrounded by new homes built by the Uniontown Redevelopment Authority, for FIRST-TIME buyers, or, elderly, handi-capped, per federal regulations. Meanwhile, CURRENT CITY HOME OWNERS in need of services provided by the Fayette COUNTY Redevelopment Authority are in-eligible BECAUSE the Uniontown Redevelopment Authority REFUSES to CEASE operations. If the Uniontown Redevelopment Authority did not exist, Uniontown City residents could avail themselves of the renovation and repair services provided through the Fayette COUNTY Redevelopment Authority.

Ditch the Uniontown Redevelopment Authority so blighted properties in Uniontown can be repaired/renovated through the Fayette County Redevelopment Authority. As it is, Uniontown city residential property owners CAN'T avail themselves to the Fayette County Redevolopment services BECAUSE the Uniontown Redevelopment Authority REFUSES TO CEASE OPERATIONS. Disgusting how the employees who are paid with tax-dollars, and, the board members at Uniontown Redevlopment Authority have selectively chosen to spend federal dollars primarily in the area around the Community Action Complex INSTEAD OF providing services to ALL residents of Uniontown. Drive down Walnut St, past the NEW homes, built with TAX-DOLLARS, to the Community Action buildings, built with TAX DOLLARS. Look to the left and you'll see the magnificent GREEN building, paid for by all of us tax-payers. Yes, the area surrounding the Fayette County Community Action Agency is what the Uniontown Redevelopment Authority brags about. Meanwhile, the Uniontown Redevelopment Authority offers NO SERVICES to residents with property in other blighted areas of the city, such as the EAST END. The Fayette County Redevelopment Authority has an excellent track record for assisting with the repair and construction of residential real estate COUNTY-WIDE but can not serve residents with property in Uniontown BECAUSE the Uniontown Redevelopment Authority refuses to cease operations. Drive through the Connellsville/Coolspring St. area to see the terribly blighted neighborhoods that the Uniontown Redevelopment Authority provides NO service to. Compare those neighborhoods to the North Union Township neighborhoods which are serviced by the Fayette County Redevelopment Authority, and you'll see that Uniontown residents would be better served by the Fayette County Redevelopment Authority. The Uniontown Redevelopment Authority is only servicing the area around the Fayette Community Action Complex - building new homes in that area while entire blighted areas in other parts of the city are totally neglected. Ditch the Uniontown Redevelopment Authority so blighted properties in Uniontown can be repaired/renovated through the Fayette County Redevelopment Authority.

The city shouldn't have to put up with garbage being blown all around to neighboring properties just because the Fayette HUD uses a parking lot that adjoins a city alley to be used as a dumping ground. The city should cite Fayette HUD for littering - it's horrible, really. Can't even drive through that alley without risking running over something that could flatten your tires, not to mention the fact little kids who live at that project play near the piles of garbage put out in that parking lot every week.

Question is: WAS it REALLY spent, or, did Marlin Sprouts just SAY that it was?
