Nancy, Get yourself a good medical malpractice attorney. You may have to go to Pittsburgh, but it will be worth it. Patient safety is a standard of care that cannot be breached for a hospital to maintain its accreditation. Do not go this alone. Do not seek legal help in Uniontown. It sounds as if you have a solid case. If you do not speak up, then others will suffer. Do not be intimidated.

NANCY, NANCY, NANCY ! Please write an e-mail to hear_my_story@hotmail.com If we all do this together the ID docs can't just say this infection is "one of those things" and chalk it up to an isolated incident. This is supposedly a rare infection. You're so right, the consent form we signed is NOT their free pass to put our lives in danger and make the hospital's lack of properly sanitizing, OUR problem. Seems to be a theme with the Gynecological OR. We need your help. If you e-mail the address above at least we can e-mail you back. That e-mail addy ensures that you can remain annymous if you wish. Thanks =)

I had my tubes tied in Uniontown hospital last Aug. I got a nasty infection and I still am dealing with it. I think we should all get together and make that hospital take action to prevent this. Its terrible how we go in for a simple proceedure and come out needing operations and have to change everything about our lives just so they can avoid doing their jobs. The infection form we are made to sign gives them a free ticket to infect us with what ever they may have neglected to clean up. They have to pay up some day, this destroyed my life and I still have so far to go to even be close to normal again!

wow i can't believe what i just read. I have a friend that had a baby at uniontown hospital last year and she got a real bad infection there it was e-coli. she almost died from it and had to have alot of operations to get it out of her and she still is in pain. i will tell her i saw this. i think its great that you moms are trying to get people together that have survived this but i don't understand why none of you decide to sue. this hospital is trusted by so many people locally and here they are killing people or almost killing them like they did to you and they don't have to pay for it, thats wrong!

Oh my, I am so sorry to hear that you know my pain! I posted an email address hear_my_story@hotmail.com I, like you, didn't want to find that anyone else had suffered the pain that I have, and I found out that someone that lives just a few miles away from me, and had her surgery just a couple weeks prior to my own also knows this pain. Something happened when I spoke with her that was so uplifting, she understood what no one else had. We are together trying to find out if there are more like us so we can support each other. Please email us at that addy, we would love to hear your story and to share ours with you. We are confused as to why these deadly diseases after surgery are kept so hush hush....we need each other! I know none of us want to hear that this has happened to anyone else, however if it has happened, we can help each other! We all need to accept that our lives have been changed just as our bodies have, and we can do this together! looking forward to hearing from you.

I made a post on the main site after reading about your stories. After having a "woman's" rountine surgical procedure at Unintown Hosp I contracted a bacteria the nearly killed me. I mean all the blood work and tests they do prior to surgery ensures that one is healthy enough to have the surgery, right? I know I did not go into that surgery with this deadly disease. I can't say I'm glad I'm not alone, I wouldn't wish this hell I've been through on anyone! Somehow I am not suprised I'm not alone though.

Nameless
Interesting... My grandfather nearly died after contracting a colon infection after surgery at Uniontown Hospital. Nearly killed him. It took several visits to the hospital over the course of a year to get rid of it (something as simple as yogurt was really the cure). The infection was extremely rare and only found in hospitals. This happened about a year and a half ago.

If you or someone you know has gone into Uniontown Hospital in the past 18 months and came home far worse than you went in due to an infection or worse, please email me hear_my_story@hotmail.com I would love to hear your story and share mine with you.
