RE: teachers contract The difference is, they can go on strike and demand anything they want and we all have no choice. As Pennsylvania isn't a right to work state, our school districts have no choice but to put up with the union. The teacher's union can demand anything, hijacking our schools for ransom! If they don't get their way, they go on strike and what is our only recourse? None. They get whatever they want and their far smarter at it than we are. Most school district's school boards are made up of people who were either teachers or are married to teachers in the same school district. They already have a conflict of interest! Senior's lose your homes to school taxes and step out of the way. Unless PA becomes a right to work state, it's only going to get worse.
It does tend to hit the seniors unfairly. The teacher's only care about themselves and they're paid quite well for the area's low cost of living. Many of the seniors I know either make or break their monthly budget with only a few dollars to spare. How are they to cope with 5% raises in property taxes every year? They're forced out of the houses they worked all of their lives to afford. And its the teacher's fault!
teachers contract Due to the increase in health coverage costs, almost everyone else gainfully employed has had to contribute to their health care coverage via partial payment of policy costs and co pays. What gives teachers the right to think they should not have to contribute like everyone else ? Could someone please provide a sensible answer ? What makes you any different than others ?
