The only time I was ever at kennywood as a kid was a unique experience for more than one reason. I was very young and my thoughts are hazy but I recall my teenage brother, mother, and myself getting up real early in the morning where we caught the street car near Scottdale, road it down to connellsville and then caught a train all the way to homestead where another street car finally took us to kennywood. I had never been so far away from my home in my life and even though it isn't far today all of that traveling had us wore out by the time we got to the park But the excitemnt of the rides the food were enough to keep me buzzing. Sights I had never seen before and wouldn't for 10 years or more after that. It wasn't long after that time that the trolleys started to close and we didn't have a way to make it to pittsburgh. I remember my mother's worry when we almost didn't make the train home for the streetcar heading back toward the depot was too crowded.. but we made it. I don't know how long after that it was that they all closed down...
